Our Story

From a Shared Belief to a National Movement

The Citizens Foundation was founded in 1995 on a simple belief: that education could be a powerful force for positive change in Pakistan. What began as a single idea has grown into a nationwide movement to remove barriers to education.

From a Shared Belief to a National Movement

How it began

What began with five schools has grown into one of the country’s largest education networks and a movement of teachers, families, alumni, volunteers and supporters.

Our Belief

Change begins with Education

We believe education is the most powerful force for change there is. Personal, social and economic change all begin in the classroom, and when a child learns, the effect ripples outward through families, communities, and generations.

This conviction is the reason we exist. It shapes everything we do, from the schools we build in the places that need them most to the way we stand beside families as they work toward a brighter future for their children and for Pakistan.
